Topics 1: New Type of Snow Ecoturf Adds Beauty to Tokyo Midtown Project

Tokyo Midtown, one of the largest redevelopment projects in Japan, uses Snow Ecoturf (Tifton Riviera type), our new ecoturf lawn, for its lawn. At the project’s grand opening on March 30, 2007, the beautiful green lawn attracted much media coverage.

Urban projects require grass that is attractive immediately after completion of construction. To meet this need, we reexamined every aspect of conventional methods for covering a surface with grass. The result was the development of Snow Ecoturf, a rolled-turf method that requires no soil and is suitable for cold climates. About two years ago, we started using a new type of turf that employs a variety of grass developed for warm climates along with a biodegradable mat. Thanks to this new method, Tokyo Midtown was able to hold its grand opening with a beautiful lawn already in place. Everyone was very impressed with this accomplishment. We plan to use this achievement to sell Snow Ecoturf at many more locations, with particular emphasis on urban areas. Better still, in addition to its beauty, Snow Ecoturf helps slow global warming.
