R&D 5: "Pieno", a cyclamen variety bred by tissue culture

"Pieno", a cyclamen variety bred by tissue culture YR Natsu-Hotaru, new radishThe most conspicuous feature of the newly released "Pieno" is its robust growth with many flowers. The variety can bloom more than 100 flowers simultaneously in an ordinary 15cm pot. This unprecedented characteristic of the new cyclamen variety is innovative.

"Pieno" is the successful result of our breeding and tissue culture technology. The anther culture is used for breeding, and our micro tuber production technology (patent pending) uses tissue culture for its proliferation.

  • Anther culture: The sack in which pollens are contained is called the anther. An anther culture is a method to grow an original plant using these pollens by artificially culturing the anther.
