R&D 3: New variety of bent grass created!

(A Result of Joint Development with the CHIBA PREFECTURAL AGRICULTURE RESEARCH CENTER)

Vivid greenery in winter! CHIBA PREFECTURAL AGRICULTURE RESEARCH CENTERChiba Prefecture and Snow Brand Seed succeeded in the joint development of "CY-2," Japan's first seed-propagation bent grass. Both parties held a joint press release on June 2, 2005.

Compared with conventional varieties, "CY-2," which was developed in a high-temperature and high-humidity Japanese climate, has innovative features such as excellent greenness in winter, heat resistance, disease resistance and high grass quality, which allows low-pesticide management.

As "CY-2" is a seed propagation variety, establishment and maintenance are easy by seeding, as well as the possible replacement of varieties via inter-seeding or over-seeding.

CY-2 has high shoot density. CY-2 contains less anthocyan. CY-2 shows strong resistance against the dollar spot disease. (Right side)
