The production and consumption of green soybeans are highest in July and August. Many green soybeans are eaten with beer during the hot summer. However, they are also popular in September and into the fall. The seeds of the Yukine are sowed in June, which is relatively late for green soybeans, and harvested in September. Such mid- to late season sowing and harvesting offers a promising business opportunity for the Company, as its existing lineup consists of breeds produced and harvested earlier in the year. We expect the new breed to expand demand.
Our test cultivation found that the Yukine produces high-yield soybeans with many hulls full of peas harvested. The Yukine tastes sweet and delicious with the flavor of “Chazu”—a special soybean brand produced in Niigata. We will launch full-scale sales of the Yukine in the spring of 2007. |
